These past couple of weeks has been quite stressful for me to say the least…! Moving to another location no matter how great the new place is, requires huge adaptation like learning where everything is… - And until such things as bus and metro rout is learned, for a person who likes socializing, I feel like my wings have been temporarily clipped off.

However, it is at this juncture in my life, I’ve come to realize how incredibly lucky and blessed I am to have such amazing friends…! Never has a day gone by in the new apartment, have I not receive at least one phone call to see how things are, and if we’d need anything. I want to take the time to acknowledge each and everyone:

To Ann and Terry, for the past month, Ann had at least consecrated one morning per week to help me map out the simplest rout in order for me to get my daughter to school, then we’d take the time to test it out. While Terry, her husband has spent a large part of his Saturday to help moved our things in. As if that’s not enough, on the evening where they picked us up to drive us to our new soon would be home, they offered to do some grocery shopping to hold us over the weekend, and, when I wanted to pay them back, they refused and said it was their house welcoming gift! Ann also came over today, and after spending time at the park so the kids can play, she showed me the way to the closest grocery store. Words can never express how much I appreciate this couple…!

To Virginia and David, David too, has spent a large part of his Saturday to help us move, then they had also invited us to dinner, because we had little furniture left from the old place where we needed to stay for one more week before we could move into our current home. Virginia, do to her work schedule couldn’t physically lend a hand, but she has been nothing short of being a real friend with her encouragement and endless support, which means just as much to me.

Nicolas and Miriam have offered me their gift of time by going to the pharmacy to pick up medication for my daughter when she was sick, and we couldn’t leave the house. Nicolas too, had a part in making my move quite efficient!

Last but not least, Patrice has been nothing but sweet! Not only did he spent most of his Saturday in helping with the move, when he so rarely has a full weekend off being a nurse; he also gave me part of his Friday moving what was left in the poring rain.

This afternoon, after waken up from our needed nap, when Ann was here visiting, she also brought in a bouquet of flowers and some cheese that my landlord has brought over last night and left them by the door seeing as we’ve went to bed. She, Karin has been more than incredible! Not only did she ask us how and what she could do to make us feel more at home, she also offer her gift of precious time to show us around the neighborhood, and to pick up any big heavy items from the store seeing as she has a car. I am humble by her generosity as well as her friendship!

Thank you must also be given to Karen and Simonne for checking in on us, and offering their help even though they have small babies to take care of. I look forward to opportunities where I can return the favor and kindness to each and everyone on this list.

So, why do I mention these people when you don’t even know them? – Honestly, the first reason is to brag! I mean, if these people are apart of your live, wouldn’t you want to do the same? The second reason being, for those of you whom seems to give up on making friends, know that these incredible people do exist, and to not give up looking!!!

Cheres,

Kim

If I remember correct, there's an earlier saying, "tell me your friends, and I'll tell you who you are!" As per that, you're lucky you got wonderful friends who they are with you no matter you are in a situation.

I do consider my true friends as my family, though. Even though I do have many friends who they are known as friends only while I'm going to the canteen, taking out my money purse out of my pocket and etc etc. Lol. Hope you understand what I'm trying to explain.

Wow, can I borrow your friends? lol
Moving is indeed very overwhelming. It's nice to hear of other people pitching in to lend a hand in such helpful ways.
Welcome to your new home. I hope you enjoy it.

Kim, As you know through us chatting I also recently moved and have said how isolating it can feel in a new area, not knowing routes, and such. I like you am blessed with a wide group of friends, and have tried to express graitutde to them all for the help at the time and since.
I'm glad things are working well for you.
